Onward to the Chesapeake Bay (continued)

Departing River Dunes we returned to the ICW and the Neuse River.  The morning was gorgeous and the seas calm.  As we turned onto the narrow Hobucken Canal we saw blue lights ahead, the Coast Guard was conducting safety inspections.  Having all required documentation and safety equipment on board, we received our boarding report and were  allowed to proceed.  The Pamlico Sound was very calm but as we were turning onto the Pungo River we noticed a slight breeze begin to blow.  Out of nowhere an Eagle swooped down in front of the boat and provided us with quite an air show! The winds increased and the waters become rough so we continued past our projected anchorage to a marina on the Alligator River to tie up in a calm bay.

Stopping again at Coinjock we enjoyed the Coinjock Marina’s famous 16oz. Prime Rib for Mother’s Day, it didn’t disappoint.

Dozier's Marina in Deltaville

Norfolk is a fun stop with lots to see and do in close proximity to the marina. We enjoyed two days there.  We are currently in Deltaville, a small town on the Rappahannock River and are looking forward to exploring the Chesapeake Bay.
